“To” ban? What else were they waiting for, when most flights from Delhi had at least one infected person on them?
If we make super scientifically sure that the variants in India (but goes for anywhere) are actually more dangerous, without ocnsiering the extremely suggestive circumstantial evidence of the dramatic spike in cases in India, we’ll always stop flights when it’s already too late. Europe is doing this mistake. Canada is doing this mistake. Only countries that take a much harder line and ban flights from practically anywhere aren’t. Can’t we just act a bit more swiftly? Is a pandemic not a good enough justification to get rid of some bureaucracy?
