J&K recorded the highest single-day spike of 19 COVID-19 deaths in 24 hours including 15 from Kashmir, taking the number of casualties to 657, officials said.
As per the government, the fresh casualties include eight from Srinagar, three from Jammu, and one each from Baramulla, Pulwama, Budgam, Anantnag, Shopian, Kupwara, Ganderbal and Rajouri.
With the fresh casualties, the death toll due to the novel coronavirus has soared to 657 in J&K, which includes 603 from Kashmir and 54 from Jammu.
So far, Srinagar has reported 208 deaths, Baramulla 99, Budgam 55, Pulwama and Anantnag 47 each, Kupwara 45, Kulgam 31, Shopian 28, Bandipora 24, and Ganderbal 19.
In Jammu division, Jammu district has reported 37 deaths, Rajouri four, Poonch three, Udhampur, Samba, Doda and Kathua two each, and Ramban and Kishtwar one each.
On Wednesday, J&K reported 704 fresh coronavirus cases which include 509 from Kashmir and 195 from Jammu division, pushing the total infection tally to 34,480.
Today’s cases include 198 from Srinagar, 98 from Jammu, Budgam 64, Pulwama 55, Kupwara 49, Anantnag 47, Ganderbal 40, Kathua 27, Bandipora 22, Rajouri 17, Baramulla 16, Udhampur 15, Samba 12, Kulgam, Shopian and Kishtwar nine each, Doda and Poonch seven each, and Ramban three.
The government said of the total 9,02,677 test results available, 8,68,197 returned negative and 34,480 positive which include 7630 active positive cases while 26,193 have recovered and been discharged including 599 persons discharged during the past 24 hours.
It said, so far, 4,45,720 persons had been put under observation including 43,764 in home quarantine and 7630 in isolation while 44,146 people are under home surveillance and 3,49,523 persons have completed their surveillance period.
In Kashmir, Srinagar has a total of 8553 cases, Baramulla 2694, Pulwama 2442, Budgam 2271, Anantnag 2193, Bandipora 1974, Kupwara 1943, Kulgam 1877, Shopian 1646, and Ganderbal 1279.
In Jammu division, Jammu district has 2561 cases, Rajouri 858, Kathua 782, Udhampur 752, Samba 671, Ramban 651, Doda 384, Poonch 383, Reasi 360, and Kishtwar 206.
