J&K recorded the highest single-day spike of 21 COVID-19 deaths in 24 hours, taking the number of casualties to 987 while Saturday witnessed 1492 fresh cases, taking the total infection count to 62,533, officials said.
As per the government, the fresh casualties include 14 from Jammu division and seven from Kashmir division.
Saturday’s deaths are the highest-ever single-day spike in deaths.
With the fresh casualties, the death toll due to novel coronavirus has soared to 987 in Jammu Kashmir, which include 764 from Kashmir and 223 from Jammu.
So far, Srinagar has reported 263 deaths, Baramulla 115, Budgam 76, Pulwama 63, Kupwara 61, Anantnag 55, Kulgam 43, Bandipora 32, Shopian 30, and Ganderbal 26.
In Jammu division, Jammu district has reported 131 deaths, Rajouri 21, Doda 17, Kathua 14, Samba 10, Udhampur nine, Poonch eight, Ramban six, Reasi four, and Kishtwar three.
On Saturday, J&K reported 1492 fresh coronavirus cases, which include 831 from Jammu and 661 from Kashmir division, pushing the total infection tally to 61,041.
The government said of the total 13,69,702 test results available, 13,07,169 returned negative and 62,533 positive which include 21,281 active positive cases while 40,265 have recovered and been discharged including 960 persons discharged during the past 24 hours.
It said, so far, 5,42,123 persons had been put under observation including 29,078 in home quarantine and 21,281 in isolation while 66,076 people are under home surveillance and 4,24,701 persons have completed their surveillance period.
In Kashmir, Srinagar has a total of 12,829 cases, Budgam 4286, Baramulla 3758, Pulwama 3484, Anantnag 3203, Kupwara 3178, Bandipora 3120, Ganderbal 2503, Kulgam 2165, and Shopian 1921.
In Jammu division, Jammu district has a total of 9911 cases, Rajouri 2010, Udhampur 1735, Kathua 1673, Doda 1535, Samba 1358, Poonch 1296, Ramban 1012, Kishtwar 830, and Reasi 726.
