Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday said that this accession day was celebrated with great fervour and enthusiasm in the Kashmir region on Monday.
In a statement, BJP said that a massive function was organised at Tagore hall which commenced by garlanding the frames of Maharaja Hari Singh, Bharat Mata and Maqbool Sherwani. “It was followed by a Tiranga rally led by BJP general secretary and in-charge for Kashmir Vibodh Gupta and BJP Vice-President and co-in charge Kashmir Sofi Yusuf which began from Tagore Hall and concluded at SKICC,” BJP said.
Speaking on the occasion, Vibodh Gupta said that the overwhelming response from local people of Kashmir and massive participation in the Tiranga rally is a tight slap on those so-called leaders of Kashmir that have made seditious statements in the last few days.
Gupta said that the Tiranga rally passed through Gupkar road and residence of leaders like Mehbooba Mufti and Farooq Abdullah.
He said that this massive rally stands as testimony to the fact that Gupkar declaration leaders are living in a fool’s paradise.
Gupta further said that on this day in 1947 Maharaja Hari Singh, the then ruler of J&K, signed the Instrument of Accession of J&K with the Union of India and as such this day forms a very important landmark in the history. Gupta remembered the sacrifice of army men and natives of J&K who with utmost valour fought with the army and armed tribal men of Pakistan. “The role played by local Kashmiris particularly Maqbool Sherwani also deserves praise,” he added.
Vibodh said that the dream J&K of Maharaja Hari Singh is being envisioned by PM Narendra Modi and the mission of peace, prosperity and development in the valley is at its peak.
He called upon the youth of J&K to resolve on this historic day to not fall in the trap of separatist and power-hungry political parties including PDP-NC and commit themselves towards the cause of peace and prosperity.
Addressing the rally Sofi Yusuf said that the day is a red-letter day in the history of J&K and “we are proud of being an integral part of India.”
He said that few power-hungry leaders are dancing on the beats of Pakistan and befooling the youth of valley to fulfil their agendas. He called upon the youth to devote themselves to the better future of Kashmir so that the coming generation could inherit peace, prosperity and a better future.
Sofi further showed gratitude to the people of the Valley for joining the Tiranga rally and said that he is proud to see that people from diverse sections have come together in the valley to join the peace and prosperity mission of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
He further said that Bharatiya Janata Party leaders of Kashmir have completely committed themselves to the service of Kashmir and to fulfil the dream of Maharaja Hari Singh.
Dr Darakshan Andrabi, Dr Ali Mohd. Mir, GM Mir, Altaf Thakur also spoke on the occasion.
BJP in-charge Media and Information Technology Department Manzoor Bhat extended his thanks to party workers and senior leaders for their enormous cooperation in the organization of this event.
