[State Times]Sukhnandan concerned over non availability of fertilizers (DAP), seeks LG’s intervention

JAMMU: Former minister, ex MLA Marh & chairman Panchyati Raj cell BJP JK UT, Choudhary Sukhnandan Kumar urged the govt to ensure availability of fertilizers specially DAP (Diaammonia phosphate) in Jammu division as due to its shortage farmers of the division are struggling badly.
Sukhnandan Choudhary was also accompanied by BJP Kissan Morcha President Omi Khajuria, District President H. S. Pammi and BJP Media Incharge Dr. Pardeep Mahotra at party headquarter, Trikuta Nagar, Jammu.
Addressing a press conference here on Friday, he appealed to Lt. Governor, Manoj Sinha to look into the serious issue of non a availability of stocks of DAP fertilizers in Jammu division in the wake of continued suspension of goods trains from different parts of India by agitation of farmers in Punjab.
He appealed the LG to sort out the matter as the need of hour is that when fertilizer companies are ready to deliver Fertilizers in Harayana by train then Government should transport it by road or using the services of SRTC or any other medium to transport it to every district of JK UT for timely sowing of wheat and other early variety crops to ease the tension of farmers.
“Late sowing of crops will also affects the production which will result low yield,”he added
He said that if the Transport service is available for other essentinal commodities then why it can’t be available for fertilizers.
Moreover, he asserted that if Central Government after abolishing of Article 370 could launch Market Intervention Scheme (MIS) for Kashmiri Apple to solve the problems of fruit growers there why couldn’t similar steps be taken in Jammu to help farmers tide over their crisis.
He again warned the authorities that if no concrete step will been taken ,then farmers of the division are left with no other option other than to protest on the roads.
