Yesterday, Pakistan lifted the restrictions imposed to contain the outbreak of the new Corona virus (Covid-19), despite warnings of medical staff that the number of infections in the country could rise again.
“The Pakistan Medical Association is astonished at the decision to open all sectors at the same time,” said General Secretary of the Doctors’ Association, Kassir Sajjad.
The decision to end all restrictions and lockdown measures was taken after a significant drop in cases. Yesterday, the Pakistani Ministry of Health announced the registration of 539 new cases of the virus, and 15 deaths during the past 24 hours. Pakistan recorded a total of 284,660 cases of coronavirus, and 6,097 deaths. So far, more than 80% of those infected with the virus have recovered.
Businesses and industries in Pakistan can now operate normally, which means that citizens can go to cinemas, decorating salons and places of worship. However, religious institutions and wedding halls will remain closed until September 15, and wearing masks and adherence to social distancing will remain mandatory in public places.
After this decision, Pakistani citizens rushed to the tourist places with their families, and some began to search for the jobs they lost, while others were seen wandering freely in the areas that were subject to the closure measures.
The Pakistan Medical Association says that at least 101 doctors and 24 paramedics have died from being infected with the Corona virus.
