Cricketer Suresh Raina, who recently pulled out from the 13th season of Indian Premier League, has decided to run five Cricket training schools each in Jammu and Kashmir to train the youth of the militancy hit region. The development took place when the left handed ace cricketer called on the Lieutenant Governor (LG) of Jammu and Kashmir Manoj Sinha, according to news agency ANI.
In a statement issued by the Department of Information and Public Relations, J and K, the cricketer would set up five cricket academies each in Jammu and Kashmir divisions of the Union Territory. The statement also added that the decision would hone the talent of the youth of the region and turn them into professional cricketers.
Raina, who plays for the Chennai Super Kings cricket team at the IPL, had pulled out from the tournament after the killing of the members of his immediate family by some individuals. The administrators of the Chennai Super Kings had also come in support of the star batsmen and respected his decision to not play this year’s tournament which is being conducted in the United Arab of Emirates (UAE). After the information about the tragedy was made public by the cricketer, the Punjab state government assured Raina that the guilty will not be spared.
Raina who is considered one of the closest friends of former Indian Cricket team captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni, announced his retirement from the Indian cricket team the same day Dhoni made his retirement public. Raina has also been the top performer and colleague of Dhoni in the Chennai Super Kings since the beginning of the tournament in the year 2008.
