Prime Minister İmran Han’s Health Advisor Dr. Faisal Sultan announced that the Pakistan Drug Regulatory Authority (DRAP) has authorized the emergency use of the Kovid-19 vaccine developed by CanSino.
In a statement to the AA correspondent, Sultan said that after the successful completion of Phase-3 studies, CanSino’s single-dose vaccine was approved for emergency use.
In the vaccination campaign that started in the country, priority is given to frontline healthcare workers and those over 65.
While Pakistan was the second country after Mexico to approve CanSino’s vaccine, emergency use of the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine and Sputnik vaccine produced by China’s Sinopharm, Oxford University and AstraZeneca were also allowed in the country.
Pakistan Planning, Development and Private Initiatives Minister Asad Umar announced on January 31 that 17 million doses of AstraZeneca vaccine will be purchased as part of the World Health Organization’s (WHO) Access to the Kovid-19 Vaccine Program (COVAX).
China donated 500 thousand doses of vaccine to Pakistan on February 1,
The Liberation Army sent free vaccines to the Pakistani army on 8 February (PLA).
