Two unidentified foreign militants of Lashkar-e-Toiba outfit and a civilian were killed in an 18 hour long gunfight that raged between government forces and militants in Meej area of Pampore in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Thursday evening and concluded on Friday afternoon.
A senior police officer said that after receiving specific inputs about the presence of militants in Meej Pampore, joint team of forces including 50 RR, Police and CRPF cordoned off the area.
He said that as cordon was being laid on Thursday evening, militants fired indiscriminately, however, due to the presence of civilians, forces showed maximum restraint but two civilians were injured in firing of militants.—(KNO)
