Nine more COVID-19 patients including a doctor from Jammu division have died in the past 24 hours, taking the number of casualties in J&K to 1511, while Wednesday witnessed 512 fresh cases, pushing the total infection tally to 96,700, officials said.
As per the government, the fresh casualties include seven from Jammu division including a 37-year-old doctor and two from Kashmir division.
The deceased doctor hailing from Banihal was posted as a general physician at SDH Banihal and died at GMC Jammu two weeks after he was tested positive for the virus.
With the fresh casualties, the death toll due to novel coronavirus has soared to 1511 in Jammu and Kashmir, which include 1001 from Kashmir and 510 from Jammu.
So far, Srinagar has reported 367 deaths, Baramulla 147, Budgam 94, Pulwama 83, Kupwara 73, Anantnag 74, Kulgam 48, Bandipora 46, Shopian 35, and Ganderbal 34.
In Jammu division, Jammu district has reported 264 deaths, 48 each from Rajouri and Doda, Kathua 32, Samba 25, Udhampur 32, Poonch 22, Ramban 16, Kishtwar 15 and Reasi eight.
On Wednesday, J&K reported 512 fresh coronavirus cases, which include 326 from Kashmir and 186 from Jammu division, pushing the total infection tally to 96,700.
The government said of the total 23,91,065 test results available, 22,94,365 returned negative and 96,700 positive which include 5,935 active positive cases while 89,254 have recovered and been discharged including 536 persons discharged during the past 24 hours.
It said, so far, 66,27,51 persons had been put under observation including 16,249 in home quarantine and 5,935 in isolation while 43,999 people are under home surveillance and 59,50,57 persons have completed their surveillance period.
In Kashmir, Srinagar has a total of 19,838 cases, Budgam 6105, Baramulla 6925, Pulwama 4724, Anantnag 4268, Bandipora 4093, Kupwara 4550, Ganderbal 3623, Kulgam 2499 and Shopian 2230.
In Jammu division, Jammu district has a total of 17,988 cases, Rajouri 3223, Udhampur 2755, Kathua 2479, Doda 2680, Samba 2193, Poonch 2270, Ramban 1627, Kishtwar 1967, Ramban 1627 and Reasi 1293.
