Buses plying from Srinagar airport to TRC are openly violating the Standard Operation Procedures (SOP)’s advised by admin to contain the spread of Covid19 and are bundling the passengers instead of maintaining social distancing.
A group of locals who returned from New Dehli alleged on Friday that Jammu and Kashmir State Road Transport Corporation (JKSRTC) are violating the SOP’s and are seen boarding passengers without maintaining mandatory distance.
Sameer Ahmad Lone, a local alleged that from Srinagar Airport, people are being bundled in SRTC buses like sheep, while SOPs are thrown to winds.
As per him, the government is exposing people to greater risk by bundling people in SRTC buses. The irony is that the same people are put into quarantine, either in paid hotels or in administrative quarantine centers for free,” Lone said.
He said people who come by flights following SOP’ s are bundled into these dirty buses leaving the passengers at greater risk of contracting a virus.
“There is a 100 percent risk in contracting the virus. If they have allowed private cabs to operate, some people can also hire them,” Lone said.
Another local Idress Ahmad told JKSRTC drivers are not following any SOP’s regarding the boarding of passengers and people are compelled to board these buses.
“Nor any social distancing neither any bus is being sanitized before boarding the passengers at the airport,” he said adding that even local traffic is acting as a mute spectator on the issue.
Managing Director, JKSRTC, Angrez Singh Rana told Rising Kashmir that they have already directed their drivers not to board more passengers.
“It is the duty of local police to check these things and our drivers are helpless. SOP’s are implemented by local police rather,” he said.
Raina said people should also adhere to SOP’s by not boarding the overloaded bus. They should also report the issue to the local police so that action would be taken,” he said.
