A shopkeeper was shot dead by unknown gunmen in Tral area on Thursday evening, while in another incident at Kakapora area of Pulwama district a cab driver was injured after he was attacked by unknown gunmen, officials said.
A Police official stationed at Pulwama told Rising Kashmir that suspected militants shot dead a civilian in Tral. He was fired upon from a close range and succumbed to his injuries on the way to the hospital.
The slain shopkeeper was identified as Muhammad Ayoub Ahanger, son of Ghulam Ahmad Ahanger resident of Tral.
“We have registered an FIR in the case and have taken up the investigation process,” the official said. Police along with Army and CRPF reached the spot and cordoned off the area to nab the culprits.
In another separate incident, a cab driver was injured when he was on way to his home in the Kakapora area of Pulwama district.
Soon after the incident, officials said he was taken to hospital where he is being treated. His condition is stable.
The cab driver was identified as Muhammad Aslam Wani (30) of Wanpora Pulwama.
“We have cordoned the area and have also registered a case for further investigation,” the police official said.
