The Meteorological department has predicted a two-day wet spell in Jammu Kashmir beginning from Saturday and said it would lead to more decrease in day temperatures.
Director Meteorological Department, Kashmir, Sonam Lotus told Rising Kashmir that they were expecting widespread rainfall from Saturday onward and that it would lead to more decrease in day temperatures in the Valley.
“Friday late evening moderate rain and thunderstorms were reported from Valley parts. There will be light rainfall in both Kashmir and Jammu regions between September 26 and 27,” he said.
Lotus said fresh western disturbances would affect the Himalayan region from Saturday and day temperatures during the period will remain 4-5 degrees below normal.
He said isolated places, especially in the Jammu region, would receive light showers during this period, however, there is no forecast of any heavy rainfall.
As per Lotus, scattered places of Ladakh region, mainly in Kargil district, would also witness light rains during the next 24-36 hours.
As per the Indian Meteorological Department, a weak western disturbance is moving across northern parts of the country affecting Jammu Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh and foothills of Punjab between September 26 and 28.
As per the advisory issued by the Traffic department, “Subject to fair weather and clearance of road, Light Motor Vehicles will be allowed to ply from Jammu toward Srinagar on the highway on Saturday.”
However, Mughal Road is open for downward traffic.
Only load carriers loaded with fresh fruit would be allowed from Herpora, Shopian, from 11 am to 4 pm toward Poonch.
No vehicle would be allowed after the cut of timings.
Moreover, no passenger vehicle or pedestrian would be allowed on the road, it said.
