Hyderabad: TPCC Chief N Uttam Kumar Reddy has said that the Bharatiya Janata Party is undermining the yeomen services rendered by the Gandhi and Nehru families to the nation. He says that the BJP government at the centre is trying hard to downplay their role in the development of the nation. He took exception of the recent comments of Home Minister Amit Shah about the role of former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru in the centuries long unrest in Jammu and Kashmir.
The TPCC chief who has offered floral tributes to former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi at Somajiguda, later offered tributes to him at a programme at Gandhi Bhavan and addressed the cadre. “Rajiv Gandhi was grandson of Nehru and son of able leader Indira Gandhi. He took over the reins after the assassination of his mother at a very young age of 40 years and he left an indelible mark on administration in the country,” Uttam said.
He recalled Rajiv Gandhi as a reformer who has accorded voting rights to youth and introduced technology in every sector of the country. ” He has brought 72nd amendment to strengthen Panchayat Raj . It was the initiatives undertaken by Rajiv Gandhi that led to the mobile phone revolution in the country,” he said. He said that from Nehru to present day Rahul Gandhi the Nehru and Gandhi family have made many sacrifices for the country , but the present day government is trying to cover it up,” he added.
He said that the Congress party with the inspiration taken from the sacrifices of the great leaders, will secure victory in the ensuing GHMC and Municipal elections in Warangal and Khammam. Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, MLA T Jayaprakash Reddy, former MP V Hanumantha Rao, former Minister Ponnala Lakshmaiah and K Janareddy attended the meeting.
