Jammu Tawi, August 18
The Deputy Commissioner of Jammu’s Kishtwar district, RS Tara, ordered an inquiry after some nursing staff members were found administering expiry medicines, including glucose, to pregnant women admitted in the district hospital.
“I have already ordered an inquiry in this regard. Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Kishtwar has been asked to conduct an inquiry in the matter and submit a report within two days,” Deputy Commissioner told, adding: “Strict action will be taken if any negligence will be found in the matter.”
Reports said that an attendant of pregnant women noticed an expiry date on the bottle of glucose, which the nursing staff member was going to administer to the patient admitted in the labour room of the Kishtwar district hospital. As the attendant exposed goof-up before the staff members, they immediately removed the label from the bottle.
Reports said that glucose, which the staff member was going to administer to the pregnant lady, expired in the month of October 2019. But instead of destroying the same, the glucose and other medicines were stocked in the ward to provide the same to the patients.
There is a fear among patients that before exposure of this “criminal negligence”, nursing staff have already administered expiry date medicines to some other patients.
