A Polish climber was killed when he fell while trying to reach the summit of a mountain in the Karakoram range in northern Pakistan, according to what was announced, the day before yesterday, by the Pakistani Mountaineering Club.
“Ilchuk Michael Jacob fell, Thursday, while climbing Mount Dhi Dast Sar, which has a height of about 6000 meters,” said the club spokesman, Karrar Haidari, “and soon, on Friday, he died of his wounds.”
He added, “The rescue team confirmed the death of Ilchuk Michael Jacob.”
Budgansky Jakob, the climber’s fellow climber, was unsuccessful in rescuing him despite his attempts, according to the spokesperson, who said that the weather conditions were poor at the time of the accident.
A military helicopter rescued Podgansky and Jakob from the base camp.
